Gynecomastia Surgery Cost in Turkey 2026: What Decides It
Medical editor: Dr. Semih Yıldız, plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon (FEBOPRAS) · Last updated: October 2026
Gynecomastia surgery in Turkey starts from €1,910. This is a surgical starting price; at Dr. Semih Yıldız’s clinic the price is quoted individually for each case after he has reviewed your photos and medical history. Where your own quotation lands depends on what the enlargement is made of (mainly fat, firm gland or both), on whether loose skin has to be removed and on whether another area is treated in the same operation.
The operation itself is described on our page about gynecomastia surgery in Istanbul. This guide explains the decisions behind a quotation for male chest reduction and what a complete written plan should contain.
Fat, gland or both
Most of the plan follows from one question: what is the enlargement made of? The answer, together with the shape of your chest and how elastic your skin is, points to the technique:
Liposuction only: when the chest is mainly soft fat and the skin is good. The fat is suctioned out through small incisions, with Vaser liposuction used for the finer shaping.
Gland excision with liposuction: firm glandular tissue behind the nipple is taken out through a small cut at the border of the areola, while liposuction blends the surrounding contour. Most patients need this combination.
Skin reduction: marked loose skin, typically after major weight loss, may also have to be trimmed.
Under general anaesthesia the operation usually lasts 1–2 hours, and every added step lengthens it. If your chest is mainly fat and liposuction alone is enough, the operation is still priced as gynecomastia surgery, not as liposuction of the chest. The technique should be named in your quotation, and it is confirmed when your chest is examined in person before surgery.
When loose skin changes the plan
Skin is the factor that most often turns a small operation into a larger one. In younger men with elastic skin, the skin usually shrinks onto the flatter contour once gland and fat have been removed. Following major weight loss, or after many years of enlargement, the skin can hang and the nipple can sit lower than it should.
Removing excess skin then leaves longer scars and lengthens the operation, so the trade-off between scar and contour is discussed before anything is put in writing. Front and side photos usually show whether this is likely, which is one reason they come before a personal price.
Tests that may come first
Hormonal changes, weight gain, certain medicines and anabolic steroids can all play a part in gynecomastia, so possible medical causes are reviewed before surgery. In some men blood tests or an ultrasound are recommended, for example to look for a hormonal cause or to see how much of the tissue is gland.
Ask where such tests would be done, at home before you travel or in Istanbul, and whether they are part of your plan. They are separate from the standard pre-operative blood tests that every patient has before the anaesthetic. Some findings, for example a firm lump on one side that sits away from the nipple, or nipple discharge, are investigated before any cosmetic plan is made.
When the cause has to be dealt with first
If your history points to a medicine or to steroids as the trigger, that is the first topic, because dealing with the cause may be part of the treatment. Recent enlargement can settle once the trigger is removed, and surgery may then be postponed or turn out smaller than expected. A prescribed medicine should only be changed with the agreement of the doctor who prescribed it.
Being open about anabolic steroids or ‘pro-hormone’ supplements matters for the plan as well as for the result, because using them again after surgery can make new breast tissue grow. Your surgeon needs this to give you accurate advice, and the question is asked without judgement.
Adding other areas to the same operation
Many men ask whether the abdomen or flanks can be treated at the same time. For suitable patients, liposuction of the abdomen or flanks can be combined with gynecomastia surgery, and the decision is made after assessment. It lengthens the operation, the compression garments have to suit every treated area and recovery takes all of them into account. Combined procedures are one of the factors your price depends on, so each added area should appear separately in your quotation.
What your written plan should include
Recovery is relatively short: most men stay about 5–7 days in Istanbul, return to desk work after about a week and resume chest training after about 6 weeks. The shorter timeline makes a single trip realistic, but it still belongs in writing, so that nothing about your stay or aftercare is left open.
A clear quotation for gynecomastia surgery names:
The technique: liposuction, gland excision, both, or skin reduction
Any other areas treated in the same operation
Blood tests or an ultrasound, if they are needed, and where they take place
General anaesthesia and one night in hospital
The compression vest, worn for about 4–6 weeks, and the medicines you take home
Check-ups during your stay of about 5–7 days
Follow-up by photos and video calls after you return home
The surgical price itself covers the operation and anaesthesia, the hospital stay planned for it, the standard pre-operative blood tests, the compression vest and the medicines you take home, as well as the check-ups and stitch removal in Istanbul. Extra hospital nights or tests needed because of a pre-existing condition are charged separately at the hospital’s rates. If you would rather not organise your stay yourself, the full package price adds hotel accommodation, transfers between the airport, hotel and hospital, and accommodation for a companion; flights are never included.
If residual tissue or an uneven contour ever needed correcting, a revision would be assessed individually. When Dr. Semih Yıldız considers a revision medically appropriate, he charges no additional surgeon’s fee, while the operating room and materials are charged at cost. Changes that come later with time and tissue ageing, such as chest skin that slackens again years later, are treated as a new operation and charged.
For Dr. Semih Yıldız’s personal price, a free online assessment is the starting point: clear front and side photos of your chest and a list of your medicines and supplements are enough to begin. Each step of the operation is explained on our male chest reduction page.
Frequently asked questions
Is one-sided gynecomastia planned differently?
The principles are the same, but the aim is a chest that looks even. The affected side is treated according to its tissue, and the other side is examined as well, because a smaller amount of tissue there may also need attention for symmetry. Whether one or both sides are treated is stated in your plan.
Do I need an ultrasound before gynecomastia surgery?
Not always. In some men, blood tests or an ultrasound are recommended, for example when the history or examination raises the question of a medical cause, or to see how much of the tissue is gland. Your history, your medicines and what your photos show decide whether it is needed. If it is, the plan should say where it is done.
Should I wait if my weight is still changing?
Usually, yes. Weight loss shrinks the fatty component of the chest, so the technique and the amount of tissue to remove can change while your weight is still moving. Surgery is meant for a chest that stays enlarged at a stable weight despite diet and exercise, and planning at that point gives a more predictable and lasting result.
If you would like to know which technique your chest would need and receive a written quotation, you can send clear front and side photos of your chest for a free online assessment.
