How the operation is performed
- Planning: your measurements, photos, medical history and goals are reviewed, and the implant and lift pattern are agreed before the day of surgery.
- Marking: the new nipple position and incision lines are marked while you are standing.
- Anaesthesia: the operation is performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes 2–3 hours.
- Implant: the implant pocket is created and the implant is placed.
- Lift: excess skin is removed, the breast is reshaped around the implant and the nipple is moved higher.
- Aftercare: a supportive surgical bra is fitted and most patients stay one night in hospital.
Recovery timeline
First 2–3 days: Swelling, tightness and soreness are strongest. Discomfort is usually controlled with simple painkillers.
Around day 7: Wound checks are completed and most patients are cleared to fly home.
Weeks 1–2: Most patients return to desk work and light daily activities.
Weeks 4–6: The surgical bra is worn day and night, and lifting and sport are restricted until about 6 weeks.
