Breast Augmentation in Istanbul

Breast augmentation uses silicone implants to restore lost volume, improve symmetry or create fuller proportions. Dr. Semih Yıldız plans implant size, shape and position around your chest measurements and the result you want.

Anaesthesia: General

Operation time: 1–2 hours

Hospital stay: 1 night

Stay in Istanbul: About 7 days

Final result: 3–6 months

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation, also called augmentation mammaplasty or a boob job, increases breast volume and improves shape with silicone implants. It can restore fullness lost after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss, correct a difference in size between the breasts, or create the proportions you have wanted for a long time.

A natural result depends on choosing an implant that suits your chest width, the amount of your own breast tissue and your skin quality, rather than aiming for a particular cup size.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Adults in good general health with fully developed breasts
  • Women who feel their breasts are small, uneven or have lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Patients whose nipples sit at a good height, so an implant alone can give the desired shape
  • Anyone with realistic expectations who can stop smoking before and after surgery

If your breasts have dropped noticeably, an implant alone may not lift them. A breast lift with implants may then be the better choice, and this is decided at your examination.

Breast augmentation techniques

There is no single implant or technique that suits every patient. After examining your chest and discussing your goals, Dr. Semih Yıldız recommends the combination that fits your anatomy.

Implant choice

Motiva silicone implants are used as standard. Round and ergonomic (teardrop-like) shapes are available, and the profile and volume are selected from your measurements rather than from a target cup size.

Implant position

The implant can be placed above the chest muscle, under the muscle fascia, or partly under the muscle (dual plane). The choice depends on how much natural tissue covers the implant.

Incision

Most implants are placed through a short incision in the fold under the breast, where the scar is well hidden. Other approaches are discussed when they suit your anatomy.

Motiva Preserve technique

A tissue-preserving technique that uses a smaller incision and a more limited pocket with Motiva Ergonomix2 implants. It is suitable for selected patients and may shorten the early recovery period.

Fat transfer to the breast

Your own fat, taken by liposuction, can add a modest increase in volume or refine the shape around an implant. It is an option when only a small change is needed.

How the operation is performed

  1. Planning: your measurements, photos, medical history and goals are reviewed, and the implant type, size and position are agreed before the day of surgery.
  2. Anaesthesia: the operation is performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes 1–2 hours.
  3. Incision: a short incision is made, usually in the fold under the breast.
  4. Pocket and implant: a precise pocket is created above or below the muscle and the implant is placed and checked for symmetry.
  5. Closing: the incisions are closed with dissolvable stitches and a supportive surgical bra is fitted.
  6. Aftercare: most patients stay one night in hospital for monitoring before moving to their hotel.

Recovery timeline

First 2–3 days: Tightness and soreness are strongest. Discomfort is usually controlled with simple painkillers, and gentle walking starts on the first day.

Around day 7: Wound checks are completed and most patients are cleared to fly home.

Weeks 1–2: Most patients return to desk work and light daily activities.

Weeks 4–6: The surgical bra is worn day and night. Lifting, sport and sleeping on the front are restricted until about 6 weeks.

Month 3: Most of the swelling has settled and the implants begin to soften and settle into position.

Months 3–6: The final shape appears as the implants settle and the scars start to fade.

How to prepare

  • Stop smoking and nicotine products at least 4 weeks before and after surgery.
  • Tell us about all medicines and supplements; blood thinners, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and some herbal products may need to be paused.
  • Send clear front and side photos of your chest and your bra size for the online assessment.
  • Women over 40, or with a family history of breast disease, may need a breast ultrasound or mammogram before surgery.
  • Plan about 7 days in Istanbul and 1–2 weeks away from work.

Risks and possible complications

Every operation carries risk. Possible complications of breast augmentation include:

  • Bleeding, haematoma or infection
  • Changes in nipple or breast sensation
  • Asymmetry or implant displacement
  • Capsular contracture (firm scar tissue around the implant)
  • Implant rupture
  • Visible or thickened scars
  • Rare implant-associated conditions such as BIA-ALCL
  • The need for revision surgery

Breast implants are not lifetime devices and may need monitoring or replacement in the future. Benefits, limitations and alternatives are discussed in detail during your consultation and informed consent.

Frequently asked questions

How much does breast augmentation in Istanbul cost?

+

In Turkey, breast augmentation prices start from €3,020 with Motiva implants, and from €5,530 for the Motiva Preserve technique with Motiva Ergonomix2 implants. To get Dr. Semih Yıldız’s personal price, request a free online assessment.

How do I choose the right implant size?

+

Implant size is chosen from your chest width, existing breast tissue, skin quality and the profile you prefer, not from cup size alone. Sizers are used before surgery to confirm the choice.

How long should I stay in Istanbul?

+

Most international patients stay about 7 days, so the wounds can be checked before the flight home.

When can I go back to work?

+

Most people return to desk work after 1–2 weeks. Jobs that involve lifting or heavy physical effort may need 4–6 weeks.

Is breast augmentation painful?

+

Tightness and soreness are common in the first few days, especially when the implant is placed under the muscle. Discomfort is usually well controlled with painkillers.

Can breast augmentation be combined with a breast lift?

+

Yes. When the breasts have dropped, implants alone cannot lift them, so augmentation can be combined with a lift in the same operation.

Are breast implants permanent?

+

No. Implants are not lifetime devices. They need monitoring and may need replacement or revision in the future.

Can I breastfeed after breast augmentation?

+

Many women can breastfeed after augmentation, but this cannot be guaranteed. Discuss future pregnancy plans during your consultation.

Where will the scars be?

+

The incision is usually placed in the fold under the breast, where the scar is hidden by the breast and bra and fades over 12 months.

When can I exercise?

+

Walking starts on the first day. Light exercise usually resumes after 3–4 weeks and full exercise, including chest workouts, after about 6 weeks.
