Breast Reduction Cost in Turkey 2026: Price Factors and Insurance

Breast reduction in Turkey starts from €2,680. This is the surgical starting price; at Dr. Semih Yıldız's clinic the price is quoted individually for each case after he has reviewed your photos, bra size and medical history. The amount of tissue that has to come out of each breast moves it most, because it shapes the technique and the length of the operation, while any combined procedure and the number of nights in hospital explain most of the remaining difference.

The operation, described on our page about breast reduction in Istanbul, takes 2–4 hours under general anaesthesia, and that range explains much of the difference between one quote and another. Reducing breasts by a moderate amount is a shorter, simpler operation than reducing very large, heavy breasts.

Why the size of the reduction matters most

Your new size is matched to your build, with enough tissue left for a natural shape and well-supplied nipples, and the target is settled with you before the operation day. The larger the reduction, the more tissue and skin come out, the longer the distance the nipple travels and the longer the operation takes. Moderate reductions usually suit the vertical (lollipop) pattern, while larger reductions with more excess skin need the anchor (inverted-T) pattern.

Very large reductions also call for extra care in protecting the blood supply to the nipple, which is planned in detail beforehand. And because few women have two breasts of exactly the same size, the amount to be removed is judged separately for each side.

Surgeons often estimate in advance how many grams of tissue will be removed from each breast. The estimate is useful for planning, and some insurers ask for it, but the final amount is decided during the operation to achieve the planned shape and size. It is a guide, not a fixed quantity.

Liposuction and other combined procedures

Liposuction can slim the outer sides of the chest, up towards the armpit, during the same operation, a spot where fullness often bulges over the bra band. When it is needed, it becomes part of the plan and the price.

Other procedures, such as liposuction of the abdomen or a tummy tuck, are sometimes added. Each one lengthens the anaesthetic and may add a night in hospital. The deciding factors are your general health and how long the whole operation would take: safety sets the limit, not convenience.

What the surgical price covers

A breast reduction is normally followed by one night in hospital and recovery at a hotel, about a week in Istanbul altogether. Depending on your age and history, a breast ultrasound or mammogram may be needed beforehand; if you have recent breast imaging, send the report. After surgery the supportive surgical bra stays on around the clock for 4–6 weeks, and a second one makes washing easier.

The surgical price covers the operation and the general anaesthetic, the hospital stay planned for your operation, the standard pre-operative blood tests, your surgical bra, the medicines you take home, and the check-ups, dressings and stitch removal while you are in Istanbul. Extra hospital nights, and additional tests needed because of a pre-existing condition, are charged separately at the hospital's rates.

The tissue removed during a reduction is commonly sent to a laboratory for examination under the microscope (histology). Ask whether this examination is part of your quote.

Flights are never included. If you would rather not book a hotel and transfers yourself, the full package price adds hotel accommodation, transfers between the airport, hotel and hospital, and accommodation for a companion. Allow, too, for about 2 weeks off a desk job, or 4–6 weeks if your work involves lifting.

Revisions and later changes

A correction after a breast reduction, for example for a remaining difference between the sides or a scar that has healed poorly, is assessed individually. If Dr. Semih Yıldız considers a revision medically appropriate, he charges no additional surgeon's fee; operating-room and material costs are charged at cost. Changes that come later with time and tissue ageing, such as breasts that sag again years after the operation, are treated as a new operation and charged as one.

Questions to ask before you pay a deposit

  1. Which technique and target size are planned, and how certain is that before the examination?

  2. Is breast imaging needed in your case, and can recent results from home be used?

  3. Is the laboratory examination of the removed tissue included?

  4. Is a combined procedure planned, and how does it change the operating time and the hospital stay?

  5. How is follow-up arranged once you are home, and who reviews a wound that needs attention?

  6. Is everything you have agreed, from the target size to any package items, set out in your written quote?

Health insurance and breast reduction

Unlike most cosmetic operations, a breast reduction is sometimes paid for by health insurance in your home country when it is considered medically necessary. Insurers and health services set their own criteria, which can include documented neck or back symptoms, treatments already tried and, in some cases, a minimum amount of tissue to be removed, and they usually require approval before surgery. Notes from your doctor or physiotherapist about your symptoms support such an application and also help with planning the operation.

An operation you plan and book in Turkey is a different matter: expect to pay for it yourself. In the UK, NHS funding for breast reduction depends on local criteria and covers treatment within the NHS, not a private operation abroad. German statutory insurers may pay for planned treatment outside the EU and EEA only when treatment that meets the accepted medical standard is possible only there (§ 18 SGB V), which is not the case for a breast reduction. Private policies differ, so ask your insurer in writing before you book. If you pay yourself, ask for a detailed invoice and a medical report after surgery for your own records.

How your personal price is set

What the online assessment needs is a set of front and side photos of your chest, your current bra size and your medical history, including your medicines and any previous breast surgery or biopsies. Mention if you are planning a large weight loss or a pregnancy, since both can change breast size and the result, and waiting is usually wiser. After Dr. Semih Yıldız has looked at your photos and history, you receive a written quote with a personal plan before anything is booked, and the target size is then confirmed in person before surgery.

The techniques, recovery timeline and possible risks are set out on our reduction mammaplasty page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a price from my bra size alone?

Not reliably. Your bra size gives a first idea, but cup sizes vary between brands and countries, and the same cup size can sit on very different chest widths. The amount of tissue to remove depends on your breast shape, your skin quality, the difference between the sides and the size you would like, which is why photos and your history are needed.

Why does the length of the hospital stay affect the price?

Hospital nights are one of the main items in any operation. Most women need one night after a breast reduction for monitoring. A combined procedure, or a medical reason such as a slow recovery from the anaesthetic, can make a longer stay necessary. The stay planned for your operation is included in the surgical price, while extra nights are charged separately at the hospital's rates.

Why can two breast reduction quotes look so different?

Because they may not describe the same thing. One may include tests, breast imaging, the laboratory examination of the tissue, garments, medication and follow-up, while another lists only the surgeon and the hospital. Techniques, hospital standards and aftercare differ too. Compare quotes item by item and ask what is missing, rather than comparing only the totals.
