Blepharoplasty Cost in Turkey 2026: Upper, Lower or Both Lids

Blepharoplasty in Turkey starts from €940 for upper eyelid surgery, €1,320 for lower eyelid surgery and €1,830 when upper and lower lids are treated in one operation. These are surgical starting prices; at Dr. Semih Yıldız's clinic the price is quoted individually for each case after he has reviewed your photos and medical history, and you receive it as a written quotation.

The same figures are listed on our page about blepharoplasty in Istanbul. Because each one is a starting point, the first useful question is which of the three operations your eyelids actually need, and the sections below help you judge that before you compare anything.

Upper, lower or both: three different operations

Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and, when needed, a little fat through an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. It is usually the more straightforward operation, and most of the planning concerns how much skin can be removed while your eyes still close comfortably.

Lower blepharoplasty treats bags under the eyes and involves more decisions. The surgeon can work through an incision just below the lashes or from the inside of the eyelid, and the fat can be removed or moved into the hollow below the bag. The lower lid also has to keep its position against the eye afterwards, so its support is checked carefully beforehand.

Treating all four eyelids in one operation has its own starting figure, which is lower than the two single figures added together. You also have one anaesthesia, one recovery and one trip. That only counts as an advantage if both areas genuinely need surgery: if only your upper lids bother you, there is no medical reason to add the lower ones.

Details that can change the plan

Within each of the three options, several details shape the operation itself. Two plans with the same name can differ in any of them, so it helps to know which apply to you:

  • The lower lid route: an incision below the lashes allows loose skin to be removed, while the approach from inside the eyelid leaves no visible scar but suits only people without excess skin.

  • Fat removed or repositioned: moving bulging fat into a hollow under the eye is a more involved step than removing it, and it is planned when a groove sits below the bag.

  • Anaesthesia: the operation is done under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of surgery and your health. Upper eyelid surgery can be done under local anaesthesia, and its starting price is based on that; general anaesthesia costs extra.

  • Combined procedures: eyelid surgery is often combined with a brow lift, a temporal lift or a facelift, and each addition lengthens the operation and changes the recovery.

  • Eye health: dry eye, thyroid eye disease, glaucoma or previous eye surgery can change what is safe to do and how conservative the plan needs to be.

A dropped brow deserves a separate mention, because it can turn an eyelid plan into a different one. When a low brow pushes skin down onto the upper lid, removing eyelid skin alone may disappoint, and a brow lift may be suggested instead or as well. This is one reason why a plan made before anyone has examined your brows can change.

Six days in Istanbul: what the trip involves

Blepharoplasty is a same-day operation. Most patients return to their hotel a few hours after surgery with cold compresses and eye drops, so there is usually no hospital night to plan for, unless eyelid surgery is combined with an operation that needs a hospital stay, such as a facelift, after which patients stay two nights in hospital.

The length of the stay is set by the stitches. They are removed around day 5–6, after which most people are cleared to fly, so about 6 days in Istanbul is the usual plan. When you work out your overall budget, include the items around the operation:

  • flights, with the return booked after the stitch removal

  • accommodation for about 6 days, and for a companion if someone travels with you

  • transfers between the airport, your hotel and the hospital

  • 7–10 days away from desk work, or longer if your job is physical

  • sunglasses and lubricating eye drops for the flight home, where the cabin air is dry

If you would rather not arrange the accommodation and transfers yourself, a full package price is available on request. Besides the surgical price, it covers hotel accommodation, transfers between the airport, hotel and hospital, and accommodation for a companion. Flights are never included, so you book them yourself either way.

What the written quotation should spell out

Two quotations for eyelid surgery can only be compared if they describe the same operation. Before you book, check that yours states:

  1. Which eyelids are treated: upper, lower or both.

  2. The incision for each: the upper lid crease, just below the lashes or inside the lower lid.

  3. Whether fat is removed, repositioned or left in place.

  4. The type of anaesthesia.

  5. Any combined procedure, named separately.

  6. How follow-up works once you are home.

Beyond the operation itself, the surgical price covers the anaesthesia and hospital stay planned for your operation, standard pre-operative blood tests, the medication you take home, and the check-ups in Istanbul, including stitch removal around day 5–6. If a pre-existing condition makes extra tests or an extra hospital night necessary, these are charged separately at the hospital's rates.

Revision is not expected, but it is listed among the possible risks of blepharoplasty, for example for a lasting asymmetry or a change in lower eyelid position. If one is needed, it is assessed individually. When Dr. Semih Yıldız considers a revision medically appropriate, he charges no additional surgeon's fee, and the operating-room and material costs are passed on at cost. Changes that come later with time and tissue ageing, such as upper eyelid skin that loosens again years later, are treated as a new operation and charged as one.

How to get your personal figure

A meaningful figure needs an assessment, because two people asking for the same operation may need different ones. Send clear front and side photos of your eyes, open and closed, together with your medical history: medicines and supplements, dry eye, thyroid problems, glaucoma and any previous eye surgery. Say what bothers you most, whether it is heaviness above the eyes, bags below them or both.

After this free online assessment you receive a personalised plan and a written quotation before booking. The plan is then confirmed in person: after pre-operative tests and a face-to-face consultation with Dr. Semih Yıldız, the incision lines are marked on the day of surgery. Techniques, recovery and risks are explained in detail on our eyelid surgery page.

Frequently asked questions

Can upper eyelid surgery be done for medical rather than cosmetic reasons?

When heavy upper eyelid skin restricts the field of vision, removing it may help, and a functional benefit needs a proper examination. Whether an insurer contributes is decided by your insurer, not by the clinic, and cover for surgery abroad is often limited. If this matters to you, check with your insurer before you travel.

Can the plan change at the face-to-face consultation?

The written quotation is based on the plan made from your photos and medical history, and the consultation before surgery confirms it. If the examination shows something photos cannot, for example a brow that also needs lifting, this is discussed with you before the operation. You can ask for any change to be confirmed in writing.

Can I have my upper lids done now and my lower lids later?

Yes. Some people treat the upper lids first and the lower lids years later, or the other way round. Each operation then has its own anaesthesia, recovery and trip, which is why one combined operation is worth considering when both areas truly need it. If only one area bothers you, there is no reason to add the other.

If you would like a personal figure for your own eyelids, send front and side photos of your eyes, open and closed, for a free online assessment and a written quotation.
